서울 둘러보기 좋은 5곳-5 great places to visit in Seoul

서울은 참 볼 곳이 많은 곳이죠. 강북 쪽은 역사적인 건물과 함께 산속 계곡까지 1시간이 안 걸려 돌아볼 수 있는 기막힌 산책로까지 이런 구석구석을 슬기로운캠핑생활에서 쏙쏙 뽑아 정리해 주셨는데요. 원문 영상을 보시면 더 보기가 좋으실 것 같습니다. 정리하다 보니 5곳이 넘는 것도 같지만 같은 장소위치로 본다면 5곳으로 추려질 수도 있겠습니다. 여름 계곡을 따라 여행해도 좋고 계절별마다 느낌이 또 다를 테니 이번 주말 서울 산책 삼아 돌아보면 어떨까요?

 

슬기로운 캠핑생활님과 함께 돌아보는 서울 명소

여기는 서울의 광화문역입니다. 9번 출구 방향으로 나가고 있습니다. 새로 생긴 출구라서 깔끔하게 정비가 되어 있네요. 출구를 나오면 아주 넓은 곳으로 나오게 됩니다. 서울 도심 한가운데 이렇게 넓은 광장이 생긴다니 놀라운데요. 이곳은 약 2년간의 공사를 거쳐 넓은 광장으로 거듭난 광화문 광장인데요. 예전에는 찻길에 둘러싸인 섬과 같은 곳이었는데 지금은 광장이 되었습니다. 참고로 오른쪽에 보이는 저 건물의 공사 가림막은 밤에는 멋진 영상이 보이는 스크린이 됩니다.

 

광화문 광장

새로 생긴 광장은 한쪽 차로를 막아서 광장으로 만들었기 때문에 걷기 좋게 만든 게 특징입니다. 도로였던 곳에는 나무를 심고 공원을 만들었고요. 아직은 나무가 어리지만 몇 년 지나면 쉴 수 있는 도심의 숲이 되겠죠. 주변에는 곳곳에 수도시설과 쉴 수 있는 의자가 있습니다. 특히 곳곳에 분수 시설이 많아서 더운 날씨에 조금이나마 시원했습니다. 아이들이 아주 좋아하죠. 

 

세종문화회관과는 지상 지하로 바로 연결되어 있습니다. 광화문 광장을 통해 주변 유명 관광지와 연결되는 아이디어가 좋은 것 같습니다.
곳곳에 멋진 조형물도 있고요. 앞으로 이곳에서 다양한 문화 공연들이 많이 열릴 거라고 하네요. 광화문의 상징과 같은 세종대왕 동상도 깔끔하게 청소를 했습니다. 동상 앞에는 해시계도 있네요. 그런데 세종대왕 동상에는 비밀이 하나 있는데요. 바로 지하로 연결되는 통로가 있습니다. 안쪽으로 들어가면 이렇게 별도의 출입구가 있고요. 지하 2층 깊이로 내려갑니다.

와 정말 넓은 박물관이 있었는데요. 여기에는 세종대왕의 업적을 기록한 다양한 전시물들이 있어서 외국인들도 많이 찾고 있었습니다. 그리고 이순신 장군 기념관도 있는데요. 체험 프로그램도 있었습니다. 이렇게 영상 체험관도 있고 아이들과 함께 보기에 좋았습니다. 거북선 모형도 있더라고요. 생각보다 규모가 커서 많이 놀랐습니다. 광화문 광장 지하에 이런 시설이 있는 줄은 저도 몰랐네요. 광장 바닥에 연도별 중요한 역사적 사건들이 기록되어 있었습니다.

 

물론 아이들은 물이 있어야 좋죠. 기존 건물들과 광장이 연결이 되면서 접근성이 더 좋아졌습니다. 이번에 광장을 조성하면서 역사적인 건물터가 발견이 되었는데요. 바로 사원부 옛 건물터입니다. 이곳은 이렇게 그대로 보존하고 있었습니다. 신기하네요. 이곳은 아름다운 현상소라는 건물이었는데요. 이곳에서 찍은 사진을 인화해 주고 있었습니다. 광화문 광장은 경복궁 바로 앞까지 이어지는데요. 경복궁과 뒤에 있는 인왕산이 그대로 보여서 개방감이 아주 좋았습니다. 광장 오른쪽에 있는 재미있는 스크린이 있네요. 귀여운 강아지들이 지나가는 차를 쳐다보고 있습니다. 아주 귀엽죠.

 

이곳에서는 매일 10시 2시에 경복궁 수문장 교대의식과 11시 1시에 광화문 파수의식을 보실 수 있습니다. 더운데 고생이 정말 많으시네요. 광화문 광장은 다양한 버스 노선도 지나가는데요. 세종문화회관 정류장으로 검색해 보시길 바랍니다.  광화문 광장은 교통이 워낙 좋아서 주변 다른 관광지로 이동이 편한데요. 가장 대표적인 곳이 청계천입니다. 경복궁과 함께 외국인 관광객이 가장 많이 찾는 곳이죠. 광화문 광장 바로 옆입니다. 개인적으로 청계천은 밤에 가시는 거를 추천드립니다. 더운 여름이라 더욱 시원하게 느껴지네요.

 

수성동 계곡

광화문 광장 옆 KT 광화문지사 버스 정류장에서 마을버스 종로 09번을 탈 겁니다. 이 버스의 종착지는 수성동 계곡입니다. 버스로 대략 10분쯤 걸립니다. 서울의 중심지인 광화문 광장에서 10분만 가면 이런 곳이 나오네요. 인왕산이 마치 손에 잡힐 듯 가까이 보입니다. 여기가 수성동계곡인데요. 기암괴석 사이에 아슬아슬하게 걸쳐진 돌다리가 보이시나요? 저 다리가 바로 겸재 정선이 그린 수성동 계곡 그림에 나오는 기린교회입니다. 그림과 너무 똑같아서 참 신기했어요. 물소리가 커서 수성동 계곡이라고 불렸습니다.

걸어서 100m 정도만 올라가면 아기자기한 계곡을 만날 수 있습니다. 더위를 피해서 나온 시민들이 계시네요. 곳곳에 작은 물줄기가 청량감을 느끼게 합니다. 수영을 할 수 있는 물웅덩이는 없지만 도심 속에서 더위를 피하기에는 충분합니다. 물이 아주 차갑네요. 산비둘기도 더운지 물에 들어가 있네요. 시원한 그늘에 의자 하나 놓고 낮잠 한숨 자면 정말 좋겠네요. 

박노수 미술관

수성동 계곡 입구 옆에는 박노수 미술관이 있습니다. 이곳은 일제시대 서양식 건물로 건축하면서 온도를 채택한 건물인데 서울시 문화재 자료 1호입니다. 박노수 화백의 작품 전시관이기도 하고요. 건물과 정원이 참 예쁘네요. 박물관 바로 옆에는 시인 윤동주 님의 하숙집 터도 있었습니다. 과거의 건물은 사라졌지만 이렇게 알려주니 고맙네요. 여기서 산책로를 따라 20분쯤 올라가면 숨겨진 명소를 찾을 수 있는데요. 예전에 자전거로 오르막 훈련을 하면서 우연히 발견한 곳인데 지금은 단골이 되었네요.

 

초소책방카페

언덕 꼭대기에 멋진 카페 건물이 있습니다. 여기는 원래 인왕산에 경찰 초소가 있던 곳인데 2018년도에 카페로 개조를 했습니다. 그래서 이름도 초소 책방 카페입니다. 원래는 이런 형태의 청와대 주변을 경호하는 초소였죠. 그래서 곳곳에 예전 건물의 흔적이 남아 있습니다. 지금은 멋진 카페가 되어서 아시는 분들만 자주 찾는 숨은 명소가 되었습니다. 이건 예전 초소에서 쓰던 기름탱크입니다. 2층 테라스로 가면 아주 시원합니다. 주변이 막히지 않아서 바람이 아주 잘 통하죠. 하지만 주차는 여유롭지 않습니다. 예전보다 손님이 더 많아졌네요. 자리 잡기 만만치 않겠는데요.

 

청운문학 도서관

아래로 걸어서 창의 무인 방향으로 내려갑니다. 여기도 산책로가 아주 잘 되어 있습니다. 조금 내려가다 보면 청운문학도서관을 만나는데요.
여기는 사실 저만 알고 싶지만 오늘 소개해 드리겠습니다 위에서 보면 여기가 정말 도서관이 맞나 싶으실 겁니다. 정말 산속에 폭 둘러싸여 있죠 저도 처음에는 잘못 찾아온 줄 알았습니다. 이 고풍스러운 건물들은 모두 책을 읽을 수 있는 시설입니다. 전통 한옥 건물에서 새소리 물소리를 들으며 편하게 책을 볼 수 있습니다.

특히 혼자 떨어져 있는 정자는 그야말로 멋진데요. 바로 옆에 있는 인공 폭포의 물소리가 청량합니다. 여기서도 편하게 책을 읽을 수 있습니다. 물소리가 정말 시원하네요. 뒤로 보이는 폭포가 마치 액자처럼 보이네요. 여기서 한층 더 내려갈 수 있습니다. 아래층에는 도서관이 있어서 책도 볼 수 있고 또 빌려갈 수도 있습니다. 어린이 도서관도 따로 있어서 더 좋습니다.

 

도서관 바로 길 건너편에는 하얀색 1층짜리 건물이 있는데요. 바로 윤동주 시인 문학관입니다. 내부 사진 촬영이 안 되어서 외관만 보여드리겠습니다. 윤동주 시인과 관련된 다양한 자료와 전시물들이 있어서 꼭 한번 보시길 추천드립니다. 여기는 원래 상수도 가압장이어서 구조가 독특합니다. 윤동주 문학관 길 건너 윤동주 문학관 버스 정류장으로 갑니다. 여기가 청계천의 발원지라고 하네요.

백사실계곡

여기서 버스를 타고 5분 정도 떨어진 세검정 초등학교 버스 정류장으로 갑니다. 부암동 거리를 지나가는데요. 마치 시간이 멈춘 듯한 독특한 분위기가 느껴지네요. 이곳에 내리면 정말 여기가 서울이 맞나 싶으실 거예요. 인왕산에서 내려오는 하천은 정말 맑습니다. 작은 다리를 건너면 작은 표지판에 백사실 계곡이라고 나옵니다. 5분 정도 올라가면 작은 표지판이 또 나오고요. 작은 계단 아래 숨겨진 표지판을 만납니다.

그러고 보면 서울은 참 신기한 도시입니다. 도심 한복판에서 버스로 조금만 이동하면 이런 곳이 나오니까요. 작은 오솔길을 따라 걸으면 숲 그늘이 참 시원하네요. 멀리서 시원한 물소리가 들립니다. 작은 사찰 옆으로 흐르는 계곡이 정말 멋지네요. 계곡을 따라 물소리를 들으며 걸으니 힐링이 되는 기분이 드네요. 이 계곡은 유명한 도롱뇽 서식지라고 합니다. 계곡 안으로 들어갈 수는 없지만 잠깐 발을 담글 곳은 있었습니다. 서울에서 멀리 가지 않아도 찾아보면 이런 숨겨진 좋은 곳이 많습니다. 모두 아끼고 함께 잘 보존했으면 좋겠네요. 오늘도 시청해 주셔서 감사합니다.

Places to visit in Seoul with “Wise Camping Life”
This is Gwanghwamun Station in Seoul. I'm heading towards exit 9. Because it is a new exit, it is neatly maintained. When you come out of the exit, you will come out into a very wide area. It's surprising that such a large square was created in the middle of downtown Seoul. This is Gwanghwamun Square, which was reborn as a large square after about two years of construction. It used to be like an island surrounded by roads, but now it has become a plaza. For your information, the construction screen on the building on the right becomes a screen that shows great images at night.


Gwanghwamun Square
The new plaza is characterized by making it easy to walk because one lane of traffic was blocked to create a plaza. We planted trees and created a park where there was a road. The trees are still young, but in a few years, it will become an urban forest where you can rest. There are water facilities and chairs to rest throughout the area. In particular, there were many fountains here and there, so it was a bit refreshing in the hot weather. Kids love it.

It is directly connected to the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts both above and underground. I think the idea of connecting to nearby famous tourist attractions through Gwanghwamun Square is a good idea.
There are also wonderful sculptures here and there. It is said that many various cultural performances will be held here in the future. The statue of King Sejong, the symbol of Gwanghwamun, was also thoroughly cleaned. There is also a sundial in front of the statue. However, the statue of King Sejong the Great has a secret. There is a passage that leads directly underground. When you go inside, there is a separate entrance like this. Go down two floors underground.

Wow, there was a really large museum. There were various exhibits recording the achievements of King Sejong the Great, so many foreigners also visited the place. There is also a memorial hall for Admiral Yi Sun-sin. There was also an experiential program. There was also a video experience center like this and it was great to watch with the kids. There was also a turtle ship model. I was very surprised as it was bigger than I expected. I didn't even know there was a facility like this underground in Gwanghwamun Square. Important historical events by year were recorded on the floor of the square.

Of course, it's good for children to have water. Accessibility has improved as existing buildings and the plaza are connected. This time, while constructing the square, the site of a historic building was discovered. This is the site of the old temple building. This place has been preserved as is. How amazing. This was a beautiful building called a photo lab. They were printing photos taken here. Gwanghwamun Square extends right in front of Gyeongbokgung Palace. I could see Gyeongbokgung Palace and Inwangsan Mountain behind it, so it had a very open feel. There is an interesting screen on the right side of the square. Cute puppies are looking at passing cars. Very cute.

Here, you can see the Gyeongbokgung Guard Changing Ceremony every day at 10:00 AM and the Gwanghwamun Guard Ceremony at 11:00 AM. It's so hot and you're having a hard time. Various bus routes also pass through Gwanghwamun Square. Please search for the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts stop. Gwanghwamun Square has good transportation, making it easy to travel to other nearby tourist attractions. The most representative place is Cheonggyecheon. Along with Gyeongbokgung Palace, it is the most visited place by foreign tourists. It's right next to Gwanghwamun Square. Personally, I recommend going to Cheonggyecheon at night. It feels even cooler in the hot summer.

Suseong-dong Valley
I will take village bus Jongno 09 at the KT Gwanghwamun branch bus stop next to Gwanghwamun Square. The final destination of this bus is Suseong-dong Valley. 

It takes approximately 10 minutes by bus. You can find this place just 10 minutes from Gwanghwamun Square, the center of Seoul. Inwangsan Mountain appears so close that you can almost touch it. This is Suseong-dong Valley. Can you see the stone bridge that stretches precariously between strangely shaped rocks? 

That bridge is the Kirin Church that appears in Gyeomjae Jeongseon's painting of the Suseong-dong valley. It was really amazing because it was so similar to the picture. Because of the loud sound of the water, it was called Suseong-dong Valley.

If you walk up about 100m, you can see a cute valley. There are citizens who came out to escape the heat. Small streams of water here and there give you a refreshing feeling. There are no waterholes to swim in, but there is enough to escape the heat in the city. The water is very cold. Turtle doves are also in the water, probably because it’s hot. It would be really nice to place a chair in the cool shade and take a nap.

Park No-soo Art Museum
Next to the entrance to the Suseong-dong valley is the Park No-soo Art Museum. This is a Western-style building adopted during construction during the Japanese colonial period, and is Seoul City's No. 1 cultural asset. It is also an exhibition hall for the works of artist Park No-soo. The building and garden are very pretty. Right next to the museum, there was also the site of poet Yun Dong-ju's boarding house. The building from the past is gone, but I am grateful that you let me know. If you walk up the trail for about 20 minutes from here, you can find a hidden attraction. I discovered this place by chance while training uphill on a bike a while ago, and now I've become a regular.

Super small bookstore cafe
There is a nice cafe building at the top of the hill. This is where there was originally a police post on Inwangsan Mountain, but it was renovated into a cafe in 2018. Hence the name Choso Bookstore Cafe. Originally, it was a guard post that guarded the area around the Blue House. So, traces of old buildings remain here and there. Now it has become a nice cafe and a hidden spot that only those in the know often visit. This is the oil tank used at the old guard post. If you go to the 2nd floor terrace, it's very cool. The surrounding area is not blocked, so the wind flows through very well. However, parking is not plentiful. There are more customers than before. It won't be easy to get a seat.

Cheongun Literature Library
Walk down and go down to the unmanned direction of the window. The trails here are also very good. If you go down a little, you will come across the Cheongun Literary Library.
Actually, I only want to know about this place, but I will introduce it to you today. When you look at it from above, you will wonder if this is really a library. It's really surrounded by mountains. At first, I thought I was in the wrong place. These old-fashioned buildings are all facilities for reading books. You can comfortably read a book while listening to the sound of birds and water in a traditional Hanok building.

In particular, the pavilion that stands alone is truly wonderful. The sound of water from the artificial waterfall right next to it is refreshing. You can also read books comfortably here. The sound of water is really refreshing. The waterfall behind you looks like a picture frame. You can go even further down here. There is a library downstairs where you can read and borrow books. It's even better that there is a separate children's library.

There is a white one-story building right across the street from the library. This is the Poet Yun Dong-ju Literary Museum. I wasn't able to take pictures of the interior, so I'll only show you the exterior. There are various materials and exhibits related to poet Yun Dong-ju, so I recommend you take a look. This place was originally a pressurized water supply plant, so its structure is unique. Go to the Yun Dong-ju Literature Museum bus stop across the street from the Yun Dong-ju Literature Museum. They say this is the source of Cheonggyecheon.

Baeksasil Valley
From here, take the bus to Segeomjeong Elementary School bus stop, which is about 5 minutes away. I'm passing through the streets of Buam-dong. It has a unique atmosphere, as if time has stopped. When you land here, you will wonder if this is really Seoul. The river coming down from Inwangsan Mountain is really clear. When you cross the small bridge, a small sign says Baeksasil Valley. If you go up for about 5 minutes, you will see another small sign. You will come across a hidden sign under a small staircase.

When you think about it, Seoul is a truly amazing city. A place like this can be found just a short bus ride from the center of the city. If you walk along a small path, the shade of the forest is very cool. I can hear the cool sound of water from afar. The valley that flows next to the small temple is really nice. Walking along the valley to the sound of water gives me a healing feeling. This valley is said to be a famous salamander habitat. You can't go into the valley, but there was a place to briefly dip your feet. There are many good hidden places like this if you look for them without having to go far from Seoul. I hope we all cherish them and preserve them together. Thank you for watching today.
